PAFA & AAFA Complete 2024–2025 ACAFRI.PAFA, in partnership with the African Accounting & Finance Association (AAFA), has successfully completed the 2024–2025 ACAFRI, the fifth round of its research initiative supporting evidence-based accounting and finance studies in Africa. The three funded projects examined:

Sustainability in Accounting Education – Assessed how East African universities and professional bodies are integrating IFRS sustainability standards into curricula, revealing uneven adoption and skills gaps.

Governance and Accountability in REDD+ Implementation (Ghana) – Highlighted hybrid governance and stakeholder collaboration in climate finance, emphasizing the need for enhanced accountant involvement.

Managing Sustainability Risks in SMEs (CEMAC countries) – Developed a model for environmental risk management, identifying internal and external barriers, and the potential role of accountants in SMEs’ sustainability efforts.

Collectively, the projects demonstrate the growing role of the accounting profession in Africa’s sustainability transition and call for coordinated reforms in education, governance, and practice.
